Famous Forty

The Famous Forty is a collective term referring to the forty Oz novels published by the George M. Hill Company and Reilly & Britton. These books were either by L. Frank Baum, or approved by his publishers. Fans generally consider these to be the core Oz books.

The authors of these works each also produced other Oz work that is not considered part of this collection. These works are listed after the Famous Forty books.

Some of these writers wrote stories that occur within the same universe as the Oz books. Please see the List of Expanded Universe stories.

These books are the most famous, and are considered by some Oz fans to be the only official Oz books, as Baum was the creator of Oz.
